Paris..........la Tour Eiffel |
Paris was the next stop on the tour and more for pleasure than anything else. I was looking forward to lots of art galleries, great food, meeting interesting people and checking out the live jazz scene. And the City of Lights did not disappoint. Hi-lites included :: The Louvre, Musee d'Dorsey, Picasso Museum , lunch at The Grand Hotel, The Paris Opera, The Tour Eiffel, The Pompidou Centre, Montparnasse and The Arch de Triumph. All very touristy but a must on one's first trip to Paris. The Paris Met was a complete delight and made getting around fast and affordable. I also found the shopping a pleasant surprise of good quality and reasonable prices...some things beyond reasonable! Some say I have a supernatural talent for it...I'm starting to agree. |

Without a doubt the absolute best part of being in Paris, was hanging out with locals and US expats who've been here anywhere from 10 to 40 years. They take you places you wouldn't necessarily find on your own, and tell you things you wouldn't otherwise hear, making the fabric of the city really come to life. I had a great time with ' Diva of the Blues'. A great singer, songwriter and painter, Originally from NYC, now in Paris 10 years, a doco of her life and times is in production as we speak. |

The food, the food, the food...boy do the French know what they're doing and how. Had the pleasure of meeting and breaking bread a few times with Phyllis Glaeser; a great lady, who has become a dear friend. A town I'll definitely return to.... |
