They tell me it was unseasonably warm in Oslo this day! |
In October 2005, I set off for two wonderful weeks in Europe. First stop,Oslo Norway. I was here to attend The Performance Theatre. TPT is a non profit organisation, based in Oslo, that meets once a year, in a different host city. TPT brings together, in an intimate setting, some of the world's most accomplished individuals and leaders, from diverse fields of endeavour, to collectively explore, reflect upon and discuss a wide range of issues of global importance. |
The Holmenkollen Park Hotel :: this is where we stayed and where the bulk of the conference was held. Highly recommend. Isn't it good! |

The by-invitation-only occasion is produced and directed by Xynteo Limited in partnership with renowned global corporations and institutions. I was thrilled, humbled and very excited to get an invite to say the least. |
The theme this year was, 'Inspiring Enduring Performance'. Key note speakers included Polar Explorer Liv Arnesen, Sir John Bond - Chairman of HSBC and Nobel Laureate Professor Wangari Maathai, who I had the pleasure of meeting. (pic see right) |

| I also had an opportunity to connect with Dr. Michael Nobel, Chairman of the Board of the Nobel Family Society. Dr Nobel is the great grand-nephew of inventor Alfred Nobel, whose last will and testament stipulated that his factories were to be sold and the assets placed in a fund, the earnings of which were to be distributed each year in the form of five Nobel Prizes awarded to those who had “conferred the greatest benefit on mankind.” |

I spent quite a bit of time exploring the Nobel Peace Centre. A very inspiring and thought provoking exhibit of both man's humanity and inhumanity to man. Fortunate to be in Oslo for the announcement of the 2005 Nobel Prize winners, I was brimming with pride amongst my international company as two Australians, Barry J Marshal and Robin Warren, won the award in medicine for their work on how a bacterium plays a role in stomach inflammation and ulcers. |

I didn't get to see
any live Norwegian Jazz but my research shows they have a thriving jazz
and music community. Saw lots of Norwegian wood. They must get
that a lot... |
